Privacy Policy

NuMacros ("we," "us," or "our") operates https://numacros.com (the "Site") and the NuMacros mobile application (the "App"), available at apps.apple.com/us/app/numacros/id6751827502, collectively referred to as the "Services." This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

By using our Services, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy. NuMacros is available only to users 18 years of age and older — see Section 6 for details.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information from the Website

Usage data: pages visited, time on site, referring URLs, clicks, and general event-based analytics data collected via PostHog.
We do not currently run advertising or affiliate tracking on the Site.

1.2 Information from the App

Account information. Our App uses Supabase to provide account creation and authentication. When you create an account, we (via Supabase) collect and store:

Email address
Encrypted password or social login credentials (if applicable)
Account identifiers necessary to operate your account

Camera and photo access. The App requests access to your device's camera and/or photo library so you can:

Scan food items and nutrition labels for automatic logging
Upload photos of food or nutrition labels for tracking purposes

Photos submitted through these features are uploaded to and stored on our servers (via Supabase) to enable these functions and to make your data available across your devices.

Analytics. We use PostHog within the App to understand usage patterns and improve performance. This may include device type, OS version, in-app events (e.g., feature usage), and crash data.

AI-powered features. The App uses AI services provided by OpenAI and Anthropic to power features such as food and nutrition label recognition. When you use these features, the content you submit — such as photos of food or nutrition labels and related text — may be sent to these providers for processing so we can return results to you.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use collected information to:

Provide, operate, and maintain the App and Site
Create and manage your account
Enable core App features requiring camera/photo access
Process content you submit through AI-powered features, such as food and nutrition label recognition
Monitor and improve performance and reliability
Communicate with you about your account, if necessary
Comply with legal obligations

We do not sell your personal information.

3. Third-Party Services

We rely on the following third-party service providers to operate the Services:

These providers may process data on servers located outside your country of residence. Each provider maintains its own privacy and security practices; we encourage you to review their privacy policies directly.

4. Data Retention

We retain account information for as long as your account remains active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data — including uploaded food/label photos — immediately, except where limited retention is required for legal, security, or fraud-prevention purposes.

5. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights including the ability to:

Access the personal data we hold about you
Request correction or deletion of your data
Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent
Object to or restrict certain processing
Request a copy of your data in a portable format

If you are in the European Economic Area or UK (GDPR): You have the rights listed above under the General Data Protection Regulation, and may lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

If you are a California resident (CCPA/CPRA): You have the right to know what personal information is collected, request deletion, and opt out of the sale of personal information. We do not sell personal information.

6. Age Requirement

NuMacros is intended for users 18 years of age and older. Our Services are not directed to, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from, anyone under 18. By creating an account, you represent that you are at least 18 years old.

If we learn that we have collected personal information from someone under 18, we will delete that account and associated data promptly. If you believe a user under 18 has created an account or provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can investigate and remove it.

7. Data Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information, including relying on Supabase's security infrastructure for authentication data. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
